Most of us are now well aware that newspapers as we have known them have well and truly becoming superseded.

Like the old fashion record they have been an integral part of the fabric of our community, however from a real estate prospective they are past their use by date.

Real estate agents are generaly well aware that over 80% of property buyers now search for properties on-line, in the more affluent areas this figure is closer to 100%.

Buyers today want multiple photographs, floor plans, location diagrams, neighbourhood information, virtual tours and up to the minute information.

It is incredible to think that in spite of the fact of this 80% figure, between 60% and 80% of  marketing budgets recommended by real estate agents are still being spent on print media. The benefit to the seller is almost nothing, it’s very unlikely to result in the property being sold…

The benefit to the real estate agent is self promotion.

So why does this still happening?

It’s an old fashion system that has worked well in the past. Older agents are still, believe it or not, training new agents their old fashion craft.

The older established agents are now very reluctant to change as it continues to benefit their profile and in some cases they also directly profit from the process.

Before the invention of newspapers in the early 17th century, official government bulletins were circulated at times in some centralized empires. The earliest newspaper date to 17th century Europe when printed periodicals began rapidly to replace the practice of hand-writing newssheets. The emergence of the new media branch has to be seen in close connection with the simultaneous spread of the printing press from which the publishing press derives it name.[1]  Source:Wikipedia
